Working People Will Play a Role in this War by Goran [BELGRADE - 24 April]
Yesterday I had a chance to watch an interview with
one of America's best and most proud of son--a NATO pilot. He said that after
every action he feels good and is "satisfied" because he's "helping people."
Are these pilots constantly under some new powerful mind blowing drugs? Were
they exposed to the mind control program? Or are they really "satisfied" (as
they say) with their role of executioners in the interest of American
capital?
There is one thing that we mustn't allow at any cost--and that's becoming
boring and old news for the Western public. We must maintain this aggression
in the center of attention. We mustn't allow it to become a news at the
bottom of the third page in your local newspaper -- just look at what
happened with the bombings of Iraq--it became a "normal thing" for the
average American.
There are two parallel wars going on right now. One of them is the "media
war" --that one we can't afford to lose. We must keep every American
housewife on the edge of her seat every evening! Working people from all
around the world and their organising skills will play an important role in
this war. Join your local protests and oppose this imperialist aggression.
Can someone remind me how Marx ended the "Manifesto"? -- that way we can't
lose.
They hit a national TV/radio building the other day, people's legs were
amputated instantly so they could be released under the ruins, a horrible
sight. In the northern parts of the country NATO airplanes threw out leaflets
telling people how these attacks aren't directed towards them. "We aren't
actually in war with you"-they say "It's Milosevic's regime who we're out
after".
NATO obviously doesn't know a damn thing about my people's mentality, that's
why they can't understand why Milosevic today has greater support then ever
before. Looking through the eyes of an average Serb he is a hero--a man who
is brave enough to stand and oppose the New World Order in the "righteous
defence of Kosovo." A common way of thinking is basically this; "Me and my
generation can't allow ourselves to be the ones who will be cursed by our
grandchildren as the people who betrayed Kosovo."
The myth about the "Kosovo battle" has a very special place in the Serbian
tradition. In 1389 Serbs stood proudly as a wall that was holding the
"unbelievers" from conquering the rest of Christian Europe. In the name of
freedom and faith almost all of the Serb male population was killed that day
from the hands of the more powerful invaders--the Turks. This is the event
that is most often mentioned in the history classes and in the old national
folklore songs. "The eyes of the whole Western Europe were directed towards
us that day as we stood proudly and didn't surrender as most of the kingdoms
at that time did--the bells in Wienna rang in our honour" "...And today that
same ungrateful Europe is attacking and wants to take away our heart --the
Kosovo."
I hope that this will help you to better understand people's determination to
fight against NATO. They are ready to make another VietNam.
Milosevic can use his "national pride" propaganda as much as he wants -in my
opinion sooner or later he'll make an agreement with Washington behind the
closed doors: NATO troops or something similar will be placed in Kosovo,
Milosevic will get more power in the country and everyone will get their
piece of cake and will be happy --except for the common men and women in
Yugoslavia of course.
In the worst case if NATO decides to send the ground troops into battle, I
suppose that they will use as much as much soldiers as it's possible from the
local NATO countries (Romania, Hungary, Turkey). And Washington will
certainly use its old trick and promise the former republics and Albania some
territory or privileges if they get involved. So once again this would be a
brotherly bloodbath.
This isn't and shouldn't be mine nor working peoples of Yugoslavia war, we
mustn't allow the same World War #1 mistakes. FIGHT A WAR (class war) --NOT
WARS!
Over and out.
Goran
Readers curious about Goran should know he has written, "when I say 'my
nation' I'm referring to all Yugoslavs no matter what nationality or
religion. I declare myself a Yugoslav, a member of Yugoslavia --a state
of
all Slavs and other ethnic groups which live in this territory."
